Destroyed and gone
I was just enjoying my breakfast and reading the newspapers this morning when my eye felt on a particular article..
The article is about a huge artwork that is destroyed by a museum visitor. Total price for this artwork is over €100.000 !! (= > $80.000) A big waste!
Why this article appealed to me is because I’ve seen it a few weeks ago and I made pictures of it because I tought it was quite original and impressive at the same time. It excisted out of vases. All vases were dyed by hand and the combination of the colours were just a perfect polychrome.

The artist is Jongerius she is a rich woman which earns money from designing (eg. for IKEA) and her own artworks.
In the exhibition te vases all stood in a big circle on a platform.
The article says that yesterday there has been a woman and which felt right on the vases.
About half of the entire artwork is broken.
This made me realize how transient not the ordinary, but also the precious and expensive things in the world can be..

Newspaper article
Somehow I've had occasions like this quite some times, that's why I decided to write a post about it..
The most extreme occasion was when I was in New York in 2008.. I saw a small building @ times square. Maybe it was because of the big contrast with the enormous other buildings around it, but somehow I wanted to see it etc. The day after, my dad and I went on the plane back to Holland and when we got home there was on the news that there had been a terroristic attack on that exact same building and it was completely vanished.. Really weird to realize that you’ve just been there.

Sandra Backlund
“Sandra Backlund started her label in 2004 after graduating from a design course in Sweden. Since then she has marketed herself well; her Facebook page has over a thousand fans, and other supporters have started a separate Sandra Backlund Facebook group. She has participated in museum exhibitions on design and has either been nominated for and/or won a design award nearly every year since 2005. She has collaborated with other designers including Louis Vuittion and she is even a proud feature on the Swedish tourism site.
Love it, hate it, or completely don’t understand it, Backlund has found a demand for her knits. They may not be the most practical, functional designs, but her style excites and mesmerizes nonetheless. No matter how much other designers change and reinvent their labels season after season, one knows what to expect from Sandra Backlund. That’s not to say that her work has become utterly predictable, it’s more that buyers will know who to go to when they want sculptured large-scale knits. Though dependability may seem a bit conventional, it itself works as advertising and will keep your customers coming back for more.”

Dear Lotte
Hey sweetheart. <3
I really wanted to start blogging, but I’ve been extremely busy.. Mainly with school..
Last week I had an examination week and this week we just had to have a lot of things finished, but today I started! :)
The homework for today was actually kind of fun: for art class we had to make an art work which was named “You, in whatever way you see yourself”. It had to be completely about yourself. I first didn’t think I would like the assignment, but then some idea popped into my mind about portraying myself with my head open and all things that have something to do with my life, creaping out.
I’m happy with the result..
I'll show you ;)
By the way! I look very much forward to our rendez-vous tomorrow! :) I want to hear everything about how you've been the past 2 or 3 days? Wow.. why does it feel so much longer? Haha, yeah I do like your story!
We'll catch up tomorrow!
xxxxxxx
