MyPlace

Tayfun’s friends who organise party’s every month, asked me to polaroid-photograph and henna-tattoo at a party called ‘MyPlace” which invites all sorts of people, music, religions, every openminded person is welcome. And it feels like a comfortable, home-like party with people you can randomly socialize with.
The next party is coming up soon. Besides tattoo’s and photo’s, painting faces will also be on the list!
Some of the pictures I made:

I’ve been tossing and turning for over two hours in my bed. Then I thought; I have better things to do than this. And it’s true. Sitting here, with my sweet laptop and a steaming cup of winter tea, I feel much better.
Somehow it’s always night when I want it to be day, and day when I want it to be night. My body is telling me I’m tired, but the second I’m in my bed, the sun rises in my mind, and I’m wide awake.
Time, time, time, see what’s become of me
While I looked around
For my possibilities
I was so hard to please
But look around, leaves are brown
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter
Hear the salvation army band
Down by the riverside, it’s bound to be a better ride
Than what you’ve got planned
Carry your cup in your hand
And look around, leaves are brown now
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter
Look around, leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow on the ground.

Jesse

I love the days where the sun and the winter are fighting over who owns the day.
It was one of the days when I loved being outside.
Before christmas, before newyearseve.
In the silence of the storm, with Ty and my crazy dog Jesse.

A flock of sheep that leisurely pass by
One after one; the sound of rain, and bees
Murmuring; the fall of rivers, winds and seas,
Smooth fields, white sheets of water, and pure sky -
I’ve thought of all by turns, and still I lie
Sleepless…

Peppered up

While going through my bag in search of my lipbalm today, I came across my pepperspray. I tossed it around a bit in my hand, memorizing the moments I used it. Then a really funny story came back to me, which I hadn’t thought about in months.
Summer 2010.
An intense summer filled with crazyness, party’s, romances and the weirdest situations I ever got into. Every monday in the months of June till September, there is an outdoor event in the ‘ wantijpark’ in Dordrecht. A big openair stage where different artists perform every week. All kinds of music genre’s, really awesome. We had for example ‘the animals’ last year, who ofcourse performed the house of the rising sun.
Wantij night pictures:
Marit, Lotte, Raanya, Kanaar, Lara

As you can see, lots of socializing and lots of fun, every monday of summer.
Gosh, these pictures make me miss the summer a lot.
After one of these nights, Raanya, Anton and me ended up down town in a bar.
After some drinks and dancing we went to my home to sleep.
While sitting at the busstation, I went through my bag, again, looking for my lipbalm.
I came across my pepperspray, and without thinking about it (the fact that I was really tipsy helped) I sprayed the pepperspray in the air. I didn’t aim for one of our faces at all, but Raanya and Anton thought I sprayed deodorant or hairspray or something in the air, and they waved the peppery air into their faces to smell it.
Everything turned into a blur. I remember feeling my intire face burn, having troubles breathing, and not being able to see anything. I kept sneezing, and my eyes didn’t stop watering. After a few minutes, I tried to open them, and saw a blurry view of Raanya and Anton, all sitting like 5 meters apart, covering their faces, not saying anything.
I stumbled their way, and asked them if they were ok. They looked at me, both red swollen eyes, dripping noses, looking like they were going to burst in tears. But we all bursted in laughter, and pointed at eachothers swollen faces, accusing eachother of the damage.
The bus showed up, and redheaded, with the make-up down our faces, we stepped into the full bus.
It’s one of those funny moments you had to witness to be able to laugh about it, but it was just so stupid, that we still cant help but laugh whenever we bring it up.
Wiki:
“The effects of pepper spray are far more severe, including temporary blindness which lasts from 15-30 minutes, a burning sensation of the skin which lasts from 45 to 60 minutes, upper body spasms which force a person to bend forward and uncontrollable coughing making it difficult to breathe or speak for between 3 to 15 minutes.”

Eleanor, I think you have had one too many G and T’s..

I’ve been in bed most of the weekend.
The sun has finally been showing her face these days, but I haven’t been outside much to feel the warmth. Only for a sigarette now and then. I’ve been covered in bedsheets. Hidden in a room filled with movies and music.
I watched a couple of really amazing ones.
The one standing out most is ‘Black Swan’.
I know its been out in cinema’s some time in the states already,
but i’ll describe the movie to those who haven’t seen it anyway.
‘Black Swan’ is about 28 year old Nina , who has been pushed into becoming a ballerina by her mom, who gave up her own carriere to have Nina, whom she was pregnant with. Nina gets the leadrole in a play, as the swanqueen. In this play she has to play the white swan, who is light and delicate, and also the black swan, who is dark and sensual and dangerous. She is the perfect innocent white swan, but has problems placing herself in the role of the black swan. She has to let go of controll to get in the role, and stop trying to be perfect and delicate. In this process, she gets really confused with herself, her identity, people around her and her youth, and she loses herself in stress, confusion, hallucinations and schizofrenia.
She becomes more and more the black swan without being able to stop it.
The movie had a huge impact on me.
Who ever came up with this story, has digged so deep into the psychological world of scitzophrenia and fears, that it’s hard for me to dismiss the thought of that person having experienced it himself. Its incredible how realistic it’s been filmed and directed.
After the movie, I was sort of caught in the intire vibe the movie was covered in. I felt really weird, artistic, scared and sort of not myself. I know that sounds strange, but I’m sure that anyone who sees this movie will feel the same.
Captured by the Swan.
Another less dramatic movie I loved, was Match Point.

”Chris Wilton is a former tennis pro, looking to find work as an instructor. He meets Tom Hewett, a well-off pretty boy. Tom’s sister Chloe falls in love with Chris but Chris has his eyes on Tom’s fiancée, the luscious Nola. Both Chris and Nola know it’s wrong but what could be more right than love? Chris tries to juggle both women but at some point, he must choose between them.”
After reading the storyline, I thought: Cheesy happy-end love story.
But the storyline is being a little sneeky.
The plot kept changing, and a lot of things happened that I didnt see coming.
The movie turns from innocent into strange and sort of frightening.

I liked it a lot.
And I LOVED the soundtrack that kept coming back.

Match Point’s intro quote:
The man who sayd ”I’d rather be lucky than good”  saw deeply into life. People are afraid to face how great a part of life is dependent on luck. It’s scary to think so much is out of ones control. There are moments on a match when the ball hits the top of the net, and for a split second, in can go either forward or fall back. With a little luck, it goes forward, and you win. Or maybe it doesnt, and you lose.

video/liqor store??

So, I headed downstairs, and tried to open the door of the store.
Closed. But the sign said ‘OPEN’, the lights were on, and there were people inside.
I tried again, to see if the door was stuck, but it was locked.
A girl opened the door, and let me in without saying anything.
She wasnt working there.
I saw a guy looking at me, welcoming me. He looked like a hobo.
I thanked him, and started to look around.
Really interesting movies!!

He came up to me, asking me if I was looking for something special.
I could smell his breath. Beer. Lots of beer.
He was drunk. And working there.
I told him I wanted to look around.
He stumbled off.
After having picked two movies, (Le grand voyage & Forbidden Fruits) I told him I wanted to take these. He layed them on a table, and asked for my name and adress. I wrote it down for him, and he made me a hand-made memberpass. So lame and cool at the same time haha!
He asked for my license, because he needed my sofinumber, but i didnt bring it with me. He was like: Oh.. Well.. I’ll make something up then.
I noticed some signs while he was trying to get the atm machine to work.
‘No smoking’ while he had a sigarette in his mouth.
And even more funny: a sign that said three sort of drinks including beer and wine, and the prices. IN A VIDEOSTORE!

The atm didnt work. Handwritten membercards. A computer with windows 1900. The door kept locking up as soon as it fell closed. Costumers opening the door for other costumers. Two alcoholics as owners of the store practicly doing nothing. It was such a great mess!
While looking at my ”membercard” I told them how awesome I thought their store is. I asked them how long I needed the handwritten membercard before I would get a real one. He said: that is your real one girly. So, I asked them how long the store would be there. He answered: er.. well.. atleast another week.
Hahah. Good. so the movies are mine then?..

Miss Weasley

As some of you may have read a few blogs earlier, I dyed my blonde hair darkbrown a few weeks ago. Impulsive as I am, that happends all the time.
Blonde, Brown, Black and back.
The brown was already boring me, so a few days ago, I decided to go back to blonde, and stay with that for as long as I can, since its my natural colour, and my hair isn’t happy with my dying, blowdrying and straightning.
What happened?
Well, this happened.

It turned weasley orange.

So I had to go back to the mall with my carrothair. And ofcourse ran into all the persons I wasnt looking forward to seeying that moment. But eventually I reached the farmacie and bought myself enough blonde to dye the intire army.
Atm it’s finally blonde. It’s still a really warm shade, but ‘m getting used to it!
This was my hairdramastory. My life is so interesting.
